Lord Jesus you are mercy
But
You didn’t come with books of law
You didn’t come with lists of rules
Instead
You asked who dare cast the first stone
You said Father forgive them for they don’t know what they do
You told the thief you’d see him in paradise
Lord Jesus you are truth
But
You didn’t come with set answers
You didn’t come with rules of logic
Instead
You said you must lose your life to gain it
You said the poor widow gave more that the rich
You said the king must wash his disciples’ feet
Oh Lord
Let your truth and mercy
Surprise our preconceptions
Uncomfort our comfortableness
Break through the prejudices that blind us
So that
We see you
With nothing between us
Except our openness
And your acceptance
